This Escherichia coli bacteriophage M13 derivative can be used as a trigger for expression of chimera genes controlled by bacteriophage T7 promoter.

This vector is a derivative of bacteriophage M13 that encodes RNA polymerase of bacteriophage T7.

When packaged in the phage capsid, this vector can be introduced into F⁺ or Hfr Escherichia coli cells via conventional infection process. The infection does not kill cells nor it causes their lysis. Yet, it triggers production of proteins whose expression is controlled by T7 bacteriophage promoter .

The vector is supplied in 1 ml aliquots of storage buffer containing 40% glycerol and 10¹³ particles.
